The School of History maintains a comprehensive range of research directions and the history discipline was selected for the National Top-notch Student Training Program 2.0 in 2021. The school currently houses five research institutes, two key research centers—the Center for Central Asian and Silk Road Civilizations recognized by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission as a Belt and Road Country and Region Research Center, and the Center for Northeast Asian Studies registered with the Ministry of Education as a center for country and region studies—as well as nine university-level research centers.
