Selected Annotations on the General Meaning of Literature and History, annotated by the late Prof. Cang Xiuliang and Prof. Bao Yongjun, has been published by Zhejiang People's Press as part of the Zhejiang Learning Classics series.

This work offers a guided reading of the masterwork by Zhang Xuecheng (1738–1801), a great Qing-dynasty historian and thinker. It includes:

• An introductory guide to Zhang's life, thought, and the creation of his work.

• Selected annotations on over 50 key chapters, with explanatory notes on terms, figures, and classical references.

• Study guides before and after each text to aid comprehension.

The book aims to make Zhang Xuecheng's theories on history, literature, and local historiography accessible to a broader readership.
